Ephesians 3:1-7 “International Man of Mystery”
Everyone loves hearing a good secret. For some, it's a surprise birthday party, and for others, a forthcoming engagement. After thousands of years of suspense, God finally disclosed a great secret - He was bringing the Gentiles into His covenant People. Surely, there were hints given in the Old Testament. For example, God promised Abraham that he'd be a blessing to the nations. But no one could figure it out; the mystery was concealed. With Christ's first coming, God revealed it to Paul, the other Apostles, and the new covenant Prophets. This surprising addition of believing Gentiles was embodied in Paul, a surprising addition to the order of Apostles, being the thirteenth. God's love for the Gentiles was even portrayed in His sending Paul to welcome Gentiles into the Church. Paul was "a Hebrew of Hebrews", one who would never have eaten with an "unclean Gentile". In Christ, however, sinners were finding peace with God, which was now made manifest in their finding peace with one another.
