The Book of Psalms opens by setting forth two paths, one leading to abundant, prosperous life and another leading to death. The Blessed Man walks the former by delighting in God’s Law. The Man of whom this Psalm speaks is not any old person, though; it’s about a King (Joshua 1:8, cf. Deut. 17:18-20; Psalm 2). This is wonderful news, since we can never achieve this blessedness by our own obedience. Our King has come, showing Himself to be the Blessed Man.
